Mari Dangerfield is an artist, producer, writer and musician from London of both British and Portuguese heritage. With a knack for fragile songs bursting with originality, her sound is consequently hard to define. Using songwriting as a tool for attempting to make sense of life’, her productions are characterised by rich vocal harmonies, catchy hooks and cinematic arrangements. To date, she has received support from BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio Ulster, RTE, Fresh On The Net and The Frank Skinner Show as well as a range of independent media. Her debut album ‘Love And Other Machines’ was released on 12th November 2021. In 2022 she signed to London-based indie label Dimple Discs who release her album a second time in February 2023. Mari has been playing dates around London, most recently a headline at The Gunners. Her new EP ‘Eco-Fever’ is out now.
Mari began her journey into pop music after entering a competition run by MUTE for artist and French composer Yann Tiersen to promote his then new album, EUSA. She won it with a video of herself covering ‘Porz Goret’ on London’s Parliament Hill and ‘multi-tracking’ a Stylophone S-1 , an unusual production technique she came up with in order to get around playing all those really fast notes on a limited instrument. With her newfound courage after Tiersen’s backing, Mari has gone on to release her own songs that often take on this weird instrument under different guises.
